NCIS does not share any student information with anyone. Therefore, NCIS adheres to the guidelines of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Users are required to provide the following information to use the Kuder site:

  1. First and last name,
  2. Address
  3. Gender
  4. Birth Date

NCASI provides opportunities for the protection of children 13 and younger as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. However, if parents do not use those opportunities, it appears that the child's information may be shared with other agencies and partners. There is no mention of the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Assessment instruments are available once the individuals or the schools pay for access to the instruments. The per-person cost is $19.95 which gives the user the opportunity to complete each assessment once.

Schools and agencies can purchase "batches" of rights to complete the assessments. (The cost per batch is not known at this time.)

Information about the Nebraska postsecondary schools comes from surveys sent by NCIS staff to all the institutions certified to operate in Nebraska .

In addition, the NCIS staff verifies the information on the schools' websites and in their catalogs.

The surveys are sent out each spring so that the data are current.

Information comes from the Integrated Postsecondary Data System (IPEDS) collected by the National Center on Educational Statistics, US Department of Education.

Any college in Nebraska that completes an IPEDS survey is included.

IPEDS surveys collect institution-level data for the previous year in such areas as enrollments, program completions, faculty, staff, and finances.

The primary object of the surveys is not to provide information for students and adults to use in making decisions about colleges.
